Pitsford2-1 Woodford Utd U12 - A hugely anticipated first league game of the season. Woodford U12's having 5 debutants in the squad (including 3 from the U11 squad).

Woodford started the brighter of the 2 teams, having good possession and also showing hunger to win the ball back. A few half attempts from Woodford and good defending and goalkeeping from the home side kept the score at 0-0.

It looked as if Woodford had broke the deadlock only for a shot from Tommy to go agonisingly wide. A rare break past the Woodford defence left new goalkeeper, Leo, having to make a great diving save, pushing the ball out to his right, only for the Pitsford attack to react quicker and get the ball in to the back of the net 1-0 Pitsford.

Woodford responded well and again were creating the majority of the chances, with the final ball or final touch not being quite there. The 2nd half started the same as the first, however the home team found some rhythm and put the visitors under a bit more pressure, but a strong defence and solid goalkeeping kept them at bay.

Woodford were on the attack again and again, when the ball broke to Jacob outside the box to rifle home a shot in to the top corner 1-1! Again Woodford would dominate but were not getting the luck of the bounce of the ball.

A long ball forward from Pitsford caught the Woodford defence out and with the outstanding new goalkeeper Leo coming quick off his line to collect the ball it seemingly looked like it was kicked out of his hands in to the empty net. After what seemed an absolute age the ref gave the goal, much to the dismay of the Woodford players, 2-1 Pitsford.

Woodford attacked and pressed for an equaliser, with another debutant Freddie coming close, forcing the Pitsford goalkeeper into a fantastic save. The ref blew for full time on a game where the home team were lucky to win.

A great team performance from the new look Woodford U12's, with much to look forward to this season. Well done Woodford U12's!!!
