Another tough draw in another mid-week cup game against a team from the league above gave Woodford an opportunity to test themselves at a higher level.

It's certainly a standard that I'm sure all teams at this level will be aspiring to, so to travel to a club that is currently 2nd in the league and come away with a respectable 1-0 loss under the lights.

After the game, Woodford manager Kevin Bunting had these words:

"The lads gave a good account of themselves this evening against higher opposition in Sileby Rangers. Sileby dominated possession for large parts of the game but the lads worked hard to keep a good defensive shape. We had decent spells with the ball ourselves but lacked a cutting edge in the final third.

"Man of the match has to go to Joe Haynes. Joe had a very solid game in goal with some smart saves to keep the score down to 1-0.

"Good luck to Sileby Rangers for the remainder of the season, [they have] an outstanding set up with great hospitality".

Woodford's injury challenges were also increased with Thomas Bunting picking up a potentially long-term knee injury inside 15 minutes. The manager added "we have lost Thomas to a long term knee ligament injury, we have been very unlucky with our injury record this season". Again, it will be interesting to see how the team adapts to losing a key player in a key position.
